Texas Children's Hospital West Campus is greater Houston's first suburban pediatric hospital, providing premier tertiary level pediatric care in the community setting. The GI team currently consists of 4 full time pediatric gastroenterologists, 2 part-time NPs who provide outpatient and inpatient clinical care primarily at the West Campus, which is located approximately 20 miles west of the Texas Medical Center in downtown Houston.  This is a busy GI clinic with comprehensive nursing and administrative support and averages > 500 patient visits per month.  Dedicated GI Registered Dietitians, social work staff, hospital-based Infusion Center and Radiology Department including Interventional Radiology, all support the needs of outpatient care.  GI faculty lead and participate in several multidisciplinary clinics that interdigitate with programs based in The Texas Medical Center including the Aerodigestive Program, Eosinophilic GI Disease Clinic, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program with Pediatric Surgery, and the Hepatology Program, to name a few. The West Campus has a high volume of GI procedures with an average of >750 GI procedures per year.  Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies are performed in a dedicated GI procedural suite currently supported by 3 RNs, 1 GI Technician and the Pediatric Anesthesia team.  The West Campus GI Faculty provide inpatient coverage at the hospital, which is comprised of more than 40 subspecialty clinics, 42 Acute Care beds, 18 PICU beds and 23 EC beds with an average of >3500 hospital admissions per year.  In-patient gastroenterology service is consultative with primary clinical care responsibilities managed by the pediatric hospitalist medicine team.

Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital is recruiting a full-time pediatric gastroenterologist for an exciting position in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Texas Children's Hospital to join a well-established and collaborative team at the West Campus location in Katy, TX (https://www.cityofkaty.com/ ).

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have completed an ACGME-approved fellowship, have excellent procedural skills along with a special interest and/or expertise in functional gastrointestinal disorders and/or inflammatory bowel disease. This position will primarily provide out-patient clinical care, in-patient coverage, and consultation at the Texas Children's Hospital West Campus. Responsibilities may include an active out-patient program with approximately 7 half-day sessions per week, one half-day procedure sessions and approximately one in > 4 weeks coverage of the in-patient and emergency room consultation services.  Additionally, there may be occasional outpatient clinic coverage at Texas Children's Specialty Care locations in Sugar Land or Cy-Fair. Faculty at the West Campus location remain active in teaching students, residents, fellows, and we have a track record of participation in quality improvement and clinical research, including clinical trials.
