Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a  Patient Accounts Representative II - Claims to join our claims team. The candidate should be knowledgeable in registration, and should have an understanding of Epic and A/R follow-up to determine the next process to take. The candidate should also have knowledge of how to read denied and rejected claims and check the status of a claim by accessing payer websites or placing a telephone call to the payer.

Job Duties

  • Follows up on errors or rejected accounts and makes proper notations (updating insurance information, using correct activity codes) in the Epic system.
  • Updates patient information and files medical claims with correct information, via electronic or paper submission.
  • Processes complex procedures within the revenue cycle including, but not limited to, coding, collections, and payment discrepancies.
  • Analyzes trends, issues, and proposes appropriate action & possible solutions. 
  • Identifies areas of concern regarding the various areas of the claims process.
  • Analyzes trends and issues and proposes appropriate action to resolve.
  • Exceeds established performance standards.
  • Masters each task to ensure complete understanding.
  • Maintains each work queue to review each invoice date of creation, if over 10 days out, need to understand why invoice is still there; if there is an issue, get information to bring to resolution.
  • Always notifies Supervisor of trends and issues/problems to make sure if any update or changes are needed in the system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
