Title: Optometrist
Summary
The Optometrist is a medical provider who provides optometric care. The Optometrist examines patients to determine the nature and degree of vision problems and/or eye disease. They work closely with Ophthalmologists in which to manage care.
Role is located in an off-site Harris Health Clinic located at 1110 W. 34th Street.
Job Duties
- Examine patients and perform various tests to determine visual acuity and perception.
- Prescribing eyeglasses, corrective lenses and other vision aids or therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
- Consult with patients and refer them to Ophthalmologists or other health care practitioners if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
- Study eye diseases and how to prevent and cure them.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD).
- Current license as an Optometrist by the Texas Optometry Board.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a clinical or academic setting with direct patient care.
- Residency training.
