Summary

The Division of Gynecologic and Obstetric Specialists in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Baylor College of Medicine, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Obstetrician Gynecologist faculty with a primary focus on the inpatient care of obstetric and gynecologic patients at Ben Taub Hospital, Houston, TX.

Job Duties

Ben Taub Hospital provides care for the medically underserved patient population of Harris County and is the primary educational site for Baylor College of Medicine, with approximately 3500 annual deliveries. Specifically, the OBGYN faculty member will have primary responsibility for the supervision of physician learners and the care of patients in the following venues:

 

  • Obstetric triage.
  • Obstetric operating room: scheduled cesarean deliveries and indicated procedures.
  • Labor and Delivery: managing labor and performing deliveries.
  • Rotational attending coverage of prenatal and gynecologic ambulatory clinics.
  • Approximately one gynecologic OR day a month.
  • Gynecologic consults and inpatient management.
  • Care of high-risk obstetric and gynecologic patients.
  • Three to four 12-hour in-house calls per month.

 

Physicians are not assigned clinical or divisional responsibilities post-call. Applicants should be competent in operative vaginal delivery, vaginal delivery of twins, the medical and surgical management of obstetric hemorrhage, and general procedural and operative gynecology. Academic Rank will be commensurate with experience and subject to approval by Baylor College of Medicine Faculty Promotions.

 

The largest hospital in the Harris Health public health system, Ben Taub Hospital, is well-respected both locally and worldwide as an outstanding acute care facility and an elite Level I trauma center. Ben Taub is a Level IV (highest level) comprehensive maternal care facility and has a Level III Neonatal ICU designation by the state of Texas. Staffed by physician faculty and residents from Baylor College of Medicine, Ben Taub serves as a teaching facility for the College and the U.S. military.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Unrestricted Texas Medical license and be fully credentialed before the start of employment.
  • Minimum Education: M.D. degree.
