Summary
The Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology, at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner.
Job Duties
- Obtain detailed patient histories and conduct comprehensive physical examinations.
- Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures relevant to cardiology, including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms.
- Supervise and manage treadmill and pharmacological stress tests, ensuring patient safety and accurate data collection.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in patient medical records, including orders, progress notes, and treatment plans.
- Provide follow-up care, including health maintenance and chronic disease management, in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Consult on inpatient cases, providing expert recommendations and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct outpatient clinic visits, managing a diverse patient population with cardiovascular conditions.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and family members regarding patient care plans and progress.
- Collaborate with health care providers and practice staff to identify patients appropriate for care management initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Master's degree in Nursing.
- Experience Required: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by the department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
