The Department of Neuroscience has an Assistant Professor position (non-tenure track) available in the lab of Dr. Matthew Rasband Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

 

Responsible for performing scientific experiments, leading projects, mentoring students, and contributing to other research projects in the laboratory.  The applicant must also have strong writing skills for writing papers and research grants.

 

Neuroscience specific research projects focused on determining mechanisms of ion channel clustering and maintenance in axons. Lead projects focused on neuroprotection after traumatic nerve injury, and after anoxic brain injury.  This will include maintenance of genetically modified mice, performing experiments including but not limited to electrophysiology, immunofluorescence microscopy, mouse behavior, cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Supervise Research Technician.

 

Education: 

A doctoral degree is required with at least 3 years of postdoctoral training experience in molecular neurobiology.
