Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) seeks a nationally recognized adult neurologist with expertise in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology to serve as Head, Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology & Epilepsy, Department of Neurology and Director, Baylor St. Luke's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Houston, TX.

Department of Neurology is highly regarded and national ranked and is affiliated with the CHI Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSLMC); Harris Health System (HHS) with its Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic; Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC), Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) and the outpatient Baylor Clinics.  The Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology & Epilepsy oversees academic, educational, clinical service and clinical research of its faculty, fellows, and staff. The Baylor-St. Luke's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is a National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) Level IV facility with a full-service, multidisciplinary program including epilepsy surgery and device implantations. There are ACGME-accredited fellowships in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology with both adult and pediatric training tracks.  There is a strong relationship with the translational science programs of the Epilepsy Research Center.


As Section Head the successful candidate will direct the academic, clinical, clinical research and educational programs related to clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy.  The clinical neurophysiology program at the hospital affiliates includes electroencephalography (EEG); long-term, EEG bedside monitoring; intraoperative monitoring; epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) studies; evoked potentials; and special studies. As Epilepsy Center Director the successful candidate with direct the multidisciplinary NAEC Level IV center based at BSLMC that includes the EMU, intracranial EEG monitoring (including SEEG), special studies, inpatient epilepsy consultations and outpatient epilepsy clinics.  

 

Qualifications:

 

The candidate must hold a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and be certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Neurology (adult) and in Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology. Faculty rank is expected to be at the Associate Professor or Professor levels and the candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.
