Summary

An Instructor position is available at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA, for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate to investigate Mitochondria-Nuclear Crosstalk and Cancer Metabolism. The lab is particularly interested in dissecting the metabolic reprogramming and signaling pathways involved in mitochondria-nuclear crosstalk and tumor metastasis. Candidates will have the opportunity to conduct both basic science and translational research in a fast-paced research environment.

 

The position requires the ability to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and work cooperatively with collaborators.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs, and conducts research experiments on mitochondrial-nuclear crosstalk in cancer progression.
  • Generate preliminary data, write grants, and apply for independent funding opportunities.
  • Mentor junior postdocs, graduate students, and summer trainees.
  • Evaluate and analyze data from lab experiments and from other high-throughput analyses.
  • Perform computational biology to develop models for metabolic interactions.
  • Develops new research projects that can understand the role of metabolic reprogramming in cancer progression.
  • Actively participate in team science and collaboration projects.
  • Appropriately document experimental results and reports to the principal investigator.
  • Actively participate in the scientific talks and other career development programs offered by BCM  and neighboring institutes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • The candidate must be self-motivated and have at least 4 years of postdoc experience with molecular biology, computational biology, and in vivo tumor models.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in mitochondrial biology and mathematical modeling.
