The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center within the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology section is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the clinical and research operations of the Medical Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center - Dr. Manreet Kaur. The position will be 50% Clinical and 50% Research.  Clinical duties include supporting care for established patients that have seen Dr. Kaur in the hospital or outpatient clinic setting. Additionally, the APP will have an independent clinic one day a week. Research duties include but are not limited to research appointments and follow-up, assisting with outpatient procedures such as blood work, and other tasks necessary to facilitate research patient care.


IBD is a truly specialized field where the APP gets to know many of the patients closely, and plays a key role in patient education and support. The APP will become familiar over time with the various treatment options, including several new medications developed to treat IBD.


Job duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Provide patient care to established patients that have seen Dr. Kaur in the Hospital or Outpatient Clinical setting; Follow-up on outlined treatment plans.
  • Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations; work closely with Dr. Kaur on treatment plan, follow-up, medication management.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments to follow outlined treatment plan.
  • Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
  • Perform medical record review, follow developed protocols, determine appropriate patient scheduling, assist with monitoring diagnostic results and patient care progress/processes as requested by the provider, and participate in quality reviews.
  • Work closely with Dr. Kaur's research team to identify patients for clinical trials, follow-up with patient on study results and appointments.
  • Review lab results as part of clinical trial participation and perform follow ups for subjects enrolled.
  • Work in collaboration with the research team to ensure all study data are being collected and recorded in a timely fashion in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Assess learning needs and educate patients and family as appropriate concerning disease management
  • Ensures that referrals to other specialists, radiological, endoscopic and laboratory testing are coordinated with patients and referring physicians.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Education: Master's Degree



  • Experience: 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in an Ambulatory Clinic/Practice setting, preferrably in Gastroenterology
  • Experience providing in-person triage and direct patient care for acute and chronic conditions as appropriate for an ambulatory outpatient
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in the healthcare setting
