Job Purpose

We are seeking a qualified Medical Assistant II to join our Maxine Mesinger Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. This position will perform patient care and administrative/support responsibilities in an ambulatory setting. The member will participate as part of our MS team to care for our very special population of patients.

Job Duties
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments. Manages and coordinate incoming patient referrals.
  • Works with providers to manage medication refills.
  • Sorts and distributes clinic mail and medical records to the appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Performs clerical/adminstrative responsibilities such as managing fax folder.
  • Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs.
  • Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the electronic medical record.
  • Notes the primary complaint/reason for patient's visit.
  • Sets up instruments and equipment for Physician.
  • Administer medication under direction / order of a supervising Physician.
  • Instructs Patients on general care and medical procedures.
  • Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NAHP, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, or NRMA).

Physical Risks: Potential exposures to blood borne pathogens (blood &/or other potentially infectious materials), drugs, chemicals, radiation, and physical hazards found in patient clinics, hospitals and/or laboratory work environments and in working directly with patients and other employees. Initial Blood borne Pathogens Training is required, and a Blood borne Pathogens Refresher Training must be taken annually.
