Title: Medical Assistant II
Summary
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate will have both operational and back office responsibilities, as well as provide direct patient care. The Medical Assistant will provide operational support to the Senior Manager of Nursing as well as perform routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, venipuncture (blood draws), collect specimens, and laboratory Point of Care Testing. Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the medical record. Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
Job Duties
- Manages vaccine inventory and processes for the clinic system.
- Works with vaccine vendors/program sponsors as well as liaisons in 8 clinics to ensure that vaccines remain available.
- Assists the Senior Manager of Nursing with administrative responsibilities. This may include assisting with the clinic schedule, tracking and managing clinical task completion and insuring compliance requirements are met.
- Coordinates and participates in Sports Physical and Immunization "Events" that may occur in one of our clinics or at a local College or High School campus.
- Covers vacation and other staff absences.
- Acts as the Medical Assistant to the clinic and provider performing venipuncture and lab specimen collection and processing .
- Enters additional information into other databases, such as HIV and STI results.
- Assists NP/MD with clinical procedures.
- Prepares and packages lab specimens for pick up.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, or AMCA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with teens and young adults.
