Title: Medical Assistant II
Summary
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant who is proficient in delivering high level patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic ambulatory care setting. The ideal candidate will perform routine patient care responsibilities and in-suite testing procedures. In addition to clerical/administrative support in a clinical setting. The Medical Assistant will display the utmost professionalism and will work with high-touch executive and concierge patients.
Job Duties
- Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, collect specimens, and POCTs.
- Performs comprehensive testing including routine EKG’s and TAG EKG, PFT’s. ABI’s, 6 minute walk test, CogniSense testing, and 24 hour pressure monitoring.
- Notes primary complaint/reason for visit. Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation, updates vaccine status and enters information in the electronic medical record.
- Sets up instruments and equipment for physician.
- Assists with procedures.
- Administers medication under direction / order of a supervising physician.
- Instructs patients on general care and medical procedures.
- Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
- Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments.
- Conducts patient outreach phone calls and post visit follow-ups.
- Performs clerical/administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. Works with insurance companies or prior-authorizations.
- Takes inventory of clinic supplies and orders supplies as needed.
- Sorts and distributes clinic mail and medical records to the appropriate clinic personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, NRCMA, or AMCA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior customer service skills.
- Prior work experience with high-touch executive and concierge patients.
