The Baylor Medicine Spine Center is seeking a highly motivated and self-confident Medical Assistant who is comfortable utilizing technology to engage with patients and providers. The Medical Assistant will be required to provide ample support to clinicians and patients before and after their appointments. The Medical Assistant will work directly with all providers and patients in the clinic to provide high quality telephonic patient care. This is a back office role in which the Medical Assistant is responsible for answering incoming calls.

Job Duties

  • Answers incoming patient, provider and facility calls in a competent, professional and timely manner with the goal of answering at least 90% of all calls and resolving at least 25% of all calls during the first encounter.
  • Oversees, processes and distributes all incoming faxes.
  • Responds to MyChart messages as needed or as able.
  • Assists with managing incoming referrals including but not limited to distribution and scheduling.
  • Assists with managing department shared mailbox.
  • Assists with managing and uploading imaging from image share system into patient electronic health record.
  • Assists in clinic on an as-needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NAHP, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, or NRMA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPR certification.
  • Previous experience in specialty practice.
  • Previous experience using electronic health records (EPIC).
  • Previous experience scheduling/assisting with procedures, utilizing a C-ARM and autoclave.
