The Research Administration Manager oversees the pre-award and post-award financial management activities of Grants and Contracts within the Department of Pediatrics, Research Resources Office and RRO Affiliated Divisions. Will manage and oversee the full award life cycle, from application to award closeout. Additionally, the position requires knowledge in management approaches such as management of workflow, quality review, coaching, and performance management. The Manager is responsible for the work and results of direct reports and will be a resource for grant and contract administration for the Department. Management Responsibilities include oversight of cost assessment, budget development, financial set-up, resource allocation, and preparation of quarterly reports. Implements standard operating procedures and ensures institutional and federal compliance.


This role is eligible for hybrid work arrangement working at least two days onsite.

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership, management, and oversight in operation, design, and implementation of pre-award and post-award financial management activities of Grants and Contracts.
  • Direct and manage the personnel of the RRO Grants & Contracts support teams.
  • Manage a Pediatrics, Research Resource Office Grants & Contracts teams.
  • Oversee reconciliation and monitoring of pre-award and post-award financial management activities.
  • Oversight of budgets.
  • Oversee post-award expenditures to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Prepare monthly reports using SAP accounting software, BRAIN, QuickBooks, Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and/or contract tracking data.
  • Oversight of Investigator efforts and communicate effort with Investigator.
  • Provide organizational leadership to Staff; provide training and guidance on regulations and best practices.
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Director of Research Administration in managing the day-to-day activities of a Grants & Contracts team.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee programs, to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with budgeting, account reconciliation, time and effort entry, financial reporting.
  • Able to navigate and use financial and accounting management systems.
  • Supervisory experience desirable.
