Summary

The Department of Radiology is offering a highly motivated and competent professional the opportunity to serve as a Senior Manager, Research in a team-based office setting. Primary responsibilities include supporting radiology faculty (both clinical and basic research) in their research efforts. The position requires a person able to work well within a team environment and with an ability to assist a faculty with research and improvements in imaging.

Job Purpose

Manages the daily operations of a clinical or basic research study.  Implements standard operating procedures and ensures institutional and federal compliance.  Manages financial aspects of research operations.  Oversees data collection and documentation activities.

Job Duties

  • Oversees pre and post award grant management activities and administration.
  • Oversees conflict of interest submissions in BCM's electronic DOI system for department faculty and manages these submissions along with any needed COI management plans with BCM COI office
  • Oversees and reviews contract and DTA agreeements submitted to BCM.
  • Knowledgeable of BCM grant procedures for both prime submissions and subaward (incoming and outgoing) in the BCM Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN).
  • Ensures financial management and accountability through budget negotiations, performing cost assessments, contract processing, monitoring financial transactions and adherence to budget, and financial reporting.
  • Serves as a liaison between investigators, stakeholders, and sponsors.
  • Reviews imaging study protocols and collaborates with appropriate faculty to determine feasibility.
  • Routinely monitors research imaging volume and unread research exams.
  • Creates and updates Redcap databases as appropriate for study type.
  • Assists in the preparation of grant applications to federal, state and private organizations Prepare budget and administrative documents for grant proposals, in collaboration with the principal investigators
  • Coordinates budget and administrative documents for collaborators from other departments including subcontracts with collaborating institutions.
  • Handles all proposal uploads to internal servers (e.g BRAIN) and external submission portals (e.g. NIH ASSIST, ProposalCentral, etc.) Post-award tasks:
  • Handles all subcontract funding, and account management for awarded grants.
  • Assists in annual report preparation and budget reconciliation. Research activities:
  • Prepares IRB and IACUC applications. Manage IRB and IACUC renewals.
  • Performs research coordination tasks including patient recruitment, consenting, and routing for research projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience. 
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, be regarded as a team player, have strong and proven organizational skills, and have a personal drive to be their best. Experience working with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Epic EHR, RedCap software, and experience in an academic medicine environment is a bonus.
