The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable LVN I to support the clinicians and medical team. The position will assist in day-to-day operations and management of clinical operations. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting physicians and RN for clinic exams, performing clinical testing procedures, communicating with referring providers, creating weekly staff schedules, rooming patients , onboarding staff, and more. Shift will be 8:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with an hour of lunch break.

Job Duties

  • Performs clinical testing and procedures, i.e. capsules, breath tests, and more.
  • Schedules clinic appointments, clinical testing, and procedures.
  • Trains patients on injections and home testings.
  • Collects patient histories, completes prior authorizations, creates LOMN, and enters medications into medical records.
  • Maintains patient and services rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned, which may include: scan patient medical records; obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information; completing forms/requisitions as needed.
  • Schedules and preps colonoscopy/EGD for when the patient is in clinic for the specific provider assigned.
  • Communicates with referring providers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D and graduated from an approved licensed practical nurse/vocational nurse (LPN/LVN).
  • Current license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the State of Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. Basic Life Support certification (BLS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with using EPIC.
  • Previous experience as a Licenced Vocational or Practical Nurse.
