Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking for a Lead, Finance Operations member to oversee, manage and lead finance functions of the Department. The ideal candidate will focus on developing strategies for implementing processes to improve the efficiency of the finance operations in our department. 

Job Duties

  • Prepares and plans our department's annual budget for all missions (Clinical, Research, Education and Administration).
  • Performs financial analysis and monitoring of all departmental accounts.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for various department leadership meetings and makes strategic decision on management of accounts. 
  • Completes faculty allocations in PEPT (time and effort tool).
  • Prepares monthly forecast and variance analysis for department.
  • Leads the month end close for the department by producing reports, identifies financial reporting issues, addresses issues to key stakeholders, follows up on issues/discrepancies, reviews and resolves outstanding A/R with college finance/purchasing department.
  • Monitors BMed faculty compensation via the college's compensation plan. 
  • Creates a glidepath for new providers which compares monthly wRVUs generation against target and benchmarks.
  • Monitors and tracks AAMC salary and Vizient data for department; data is utilized to prepare annual faculty scorecards. 
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting proformas for department needs, replacement positions, new faculty positions and new expansion projects.
  • Tracks and reports revenue and expenses against proformas. 
  • Tracks vacancy of Baylor Medicine faculty positions for all three private clinics.
  • Serves as the finance liaison for our department; prepares and submits budget revisions and journal vouchers. 
  • Key person to review account conversion from SAP to S4Hana is correct and revenues and expenses are posting to correct WBS and fund. 
  • Prepares budget templates for all Baylor Medicine related positions.
  • Provides assistance to post award team with post award grant activities and suggest report templates.
  • Leads the process for faculty compensation updates based on the College's Compensation Plan.
  • Utilizes AAMC data to prepare monthly scorecards and reports for faculty which will tie back to the comp plan (shadow reports).
  • Completes data analysis and tracks market trends (collection rates).
  • Reviews and provides financial guidance for department's contract agreements; reviews budget for department course and provides cost analysis of revenue and expenses. 
  • Participates in reviewing staffing matrix for clinics. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Six years of relevant experience.

Department-specific Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare financial operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in academic medicine.
