Title: Lead, Academic Services - Academic Success Center
Summary
The Lead, Academic Success Center (ASC) is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the core academic services of the Academic Success Center. This includes individual academic coaching, student success workshops, peer tutoring, and developing and maintaining online student support resources. The Lead, Academic Success Center plans and guides the implementation of enhanced academic support to medical, graduate, and health professions students throughout the course of their respective programs.
This position is eligible to work a hybrid arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area after an orientation and training period.
Job Duties
- Develops services and programs to support students in adjusting to the rigor and milestones of their respective academic program, from matriculation to graduation.
- Oversees academic coaching and the process of assessing learning deficiencies and developing individual support plans to serve learners across schools and programs.
- Leads the planning and delivery of in-person and virtual workshops and lectures on a wide range of topics related to student development, such as self-regulation, time management approaches, learning and study strategies, reading skills, and testing anxiety and stress management strategies.
- Liaisons and collaborates with school leadership and other stakeholders to assess learner needs and develop resources aligning with their programs' curriculum and academic standards.
- Provides leadership to the Academic Success Center staff, including Academic Services Associate(s) and department Coordinator.
- Supervises student workers, including student assistants and peer tutors.
- Oversees the development of marketing materials and implements marketing strategies to engage learners in utilizing the ASC’s services.
- Manages assigned student lounges and other student spaces to ensure sufficient access to resources and activities.
- Produces and manages the ASC's department budget in collaboration with central Education Affairs leadership.
- Provides standard and ad-hoc data reports for internal and external stakeholder use.
- Lead the ASC’s annual program review process to support continuous quality improvement.
- Ensures ASC services and activities align with and meet compliance and accreditation guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Six years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Doctoral degree and three years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and organize effective, efficient, and detailed student success center operations with limited supervision.
