Summary

The technician will help the PI download and maintain publicly available datasets and help other lab members to access those.

Job Duties

• Monitors large data transfers to confirm that all expected files are received successfully.
• Verifies downloaded files for completeness and identifies files that may be corrupted, truncated, or missing.
• Reviews directory structures, metadata formats, and file-naming conventions across multiple data sources.
• Organizes raw data and related metadata into standardized directory structures for use in laboratory.
• Maintains and documents the laboratory's internal biomedical data repository.
• Assists authorized laboratory members with locating and accessing the appropriate datasets.
• Helps prevent duplicate downloads and unnecessary reorganization by maintaining consistent repository records and file structures.
• Uses laboratory-developed scripts to support routine data acquisition, verification, organization, and maintenance under the direct supervision of the principal investigator.
• Performs operational data-management activities but does not develop software or independently conduct statistical or scientific analyses.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of data download from biological data repositories and data maintenance.
