Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Ray Lab is seeking a highly motivated technician to assist Senior staff with scientific equipment construction. The Ray lab studies the neural circuits governing our behavior and physiology. The technician will utilize automated assays for measuring behavior and physiology in genetic animal models as part of the path of discovery for patient based diagnostics and therapeutics. The projects utilizes a wide variety of approaches that includes CAD/CAM software, 3D printing and CNC milling, micro-boards including Arduino and PI with custom written software in Python and Matlab, offering unique training opportunities for an entry level person. The lab is seeking energetic individuals at the entry level that want to make a difference by assisting with the design and construction of automated biotech research devices and assays.

Job Duties

  • Works under the direction of experienced staff.
  • Assists with organizing and storing raw materials and electronic components.
  • Assists with shop maintenance and upkeep.
  • Assists with Basic 3D design - CAD  in Solidworks or similar software.
  • Assists with Basic 3D Printing - CAM - SLT.
  • Assists machinist with CNC Milling - CAM - GCode.
  • Assists with circuit board assembly.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic familiarity with 3D design.
  • Basic familiarity with 3D Printing.
  • Basic soldering skills.
  • Technician is not responsible for project completion and will work only in an assistant capacity.
