Summary
The lab is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Helper to support cutting-edge research in immunology, epigenetics, and host-pathogen interactions. The technician will assist in processing clinical samples and implementing advanced molecular and cellular assays to investigate inflammation, immunity, and metabolism in patients recovering from pneumonia, HIV, or tuberculosis. This is a part-time position.
Job Duties
- Processes and prepares clinically collected samples, including plasma and PBMCs, for downstream immunologic and metabolic assays.
- Implements and maintains in vitro organoid models to study infection-induced immune pathology.
- Performs and assists with single-cell and bulk omics workflows that includes Single-cell RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, and CITE-Seq Bulk RNA-Seq, proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics.
- Assists in the analysis of high-dimensional datasets using R, Python, or other bioinformatics tools.
- Supports advanced modeling of post-tuberculosis lung disease risk using generalized linear models and machine learning approaches.
- Maintains cell cultures and harvests cells as needed for experiments.
- Prepares stains, solutions, and culture media following established protocols.
- Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and workspaces.
- Orders and organizes laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Operates and maintains laboratory instruments (e.g., flow cytometers, sequencers, microscopes).
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
