Job Title:  Laboratory Assistant

Salary Range:  Hiring up to $14,299.50
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Skoda Lab within the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Assistant. This position provides basic day-to-day research work. Many of these duties will include learning and using basic skills and education of technical knowledge to assist with already established lab protocols and processes.

Job Duties

  • Cleaning equipment (lab/instruments/work areas)
  • Sterilize and wash glassware 
  • Prep solutions, stains, cultures
  • Under supervision of higher level research staff, operates auto 
  • Ensures set up of lab stations and ongoing research areas stocked with appropriate supplies.
  • Receive, sort, label, centrifuge, and store biological or chemical specimens.
  • Enter data, maintain logs, and document test findings accurately.
  • Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, or stains and assist with routine tests under supervision
  • Preform other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six months of relevant experience.
