Summary

The primary purpose of the Laboratory Assistant is to carry out various supervised duties as it relates to laboratory support in the Frankfort lab, which studies mechanisms of glaucoma injury and develops strategies for disease diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. This position is an outstanding opportunity for career development for current students who are interested in a career in the biomedical sciences.

Job Duties

  • Assists with laboratory equipment upkeep and washing of lab supplies for ongoing research.
  • Assists in basic laboratory research that includes DNA, RNA, and protein assays.
  • Prepares standard solutions and cultures for lab members.
  • Assists with stocking the research lab and notifies administration when items are needed for research.
  • Attends research meetings to learn about ongoing research projects.
  • Learns and becomes familiar with lab activities, maintenance and assisting as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six months of relevant experience.
