Job Title:  Laboratory Assistant

Salary Range:  $24,309 - $28,599
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The department is seeking to hire a Laboratory Assistant. The lab assistant will perform laboratory work in support of center for drug discovery, pathology & immunology activities under the supervision of faculty.

Job Duties

  • Supports the work of technicians and scientists in a laboratory.
  • Learns standard operating procedures.
  • Learns how to use laboratory equipment and software appropriate for assigned tasks.
  • Completes meaningful independent projects in assigned area of laboratory.
  • Works under direct supervision and performs general duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Performs all paperwork, technical, and non-technical procedures required to process.
  • Supports the lab by performing data entry, loading instruments.
  • Performs maintenance on all types of equipment, gathering supplies for testing.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties for your supervisor.
  • Contributes to a cohesive team environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six months of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • STEM coursework and lab experience.
  • Has strong interest and enthusiasm for scientific inquiry and biology specifically.
  • Has familiarity with computational methods for data analysis.
  • Has hands on experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Has proficiency in MS Office.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to influence across all levels of the organization. 
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Has fluency in English.
