Summary

The intern will support routine cell culture activities, including the passaging and maintenance of various cell lines. They will also be responsible for conducting regular PCR-based mycoplasma testing to ensure culture integrity. In addition to cell culture duties, the intern will assist with general laboratory maintenance tasks such as autoclaving equipment, organizing materials, and helping to maintain a clean, efficient lab environment.

Job Purpose

Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.  

Job Duties

  • Documents experimental procedures in precise details.
  • Collects and compiles imaging and cell culture data.
  • Prepares reagents and solutions, to aid and assists in research of a senior Faculty member. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in high school or be a high school graduate (or equivalent secondary education) or enrolled in an institution of higher education. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate Competency in Basic Laboratory Task.
  • Reflect on Laboratory Experiences to Connect Theory with Practice.
  • Prepare the student for a his/her filed of interest in either a pursuit of PhD or MD.
