Summary
The EXPANSE Program (Expanding the Pipeline of Academic Neurosurgeon-Scientists through Education) is an NIH/NINDS-funded R25 initiative developed in partnership with the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). This program is designed to recruit and train medical students from institutions without affiliated neurosurgical departments.
The intern will participate in an immersive summer research experience within NIH-funded neurosurgery laboratories at Baylor College of Medicine. Responsibilities include engaging in hands-on, competency-based training in advanced neuroscience research methodologies and contributing to ongoing research projects under faculty mentorship.
Participants will also take part in a structured, longitudinal educational curriculum that extends beyond the summer program, focusing on research development, clinical insight, and preparation for careers as clinician-scientists in neurosurgery.

Minimum Qualifications
