Summary
The Intern will support the Medical Mass Spectrometry research program in the Eberlin Lab. This internship provides hands-on training in experimental laboratory techniques, mass spectrometry instrumentation, computational analysis, and scientific writing within a translational cancer research environment. The intern will contribute to research aimed at understanding metabolic features of human cancers through mass spectrometry imaging.
Internships are temporary positions of limited duration, not to exceed one year, and are subject to program needs.
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Receive training in performing experimental work and computational analysis to support translational research studies.
- Conduct mass spectrometry analysis of tissue samples using high‑performance triple quadrupole and time‑of‑flight instruments.
- Contribute to scientific writing, including drafting a review article on medical mass spectrometry applications.
- Learn and practice mentoring by supporting graduate students on metabolic imaging research projects.
- Perform entry‑level laboratory or administrative duties and assist with special projects related to the field of study.
- Participate in tasks relevant to analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, tissue analysis, and metabolomics.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a PhD.
- Knowledge in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology.
- Skills or experience in mass spectrometry imaging, tissue analysis, and metabolomics.
