Summary
The Intern Aide will assist with Periwinkle Arts In Medicine (AIM) programming by supporting creative, therapeutic activities for pediatric patients and their families. This role provides hands-on experience in patient engagement within a healthcare setting, fostering compassion, cultural sensitivity, and creativity while contributing to a positive and supportive hospital environment.
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Lead or assist with arts-based sessions such as arts and crafts, drawing, painting, music, theater, creative writing, and photography
- Engage with children of various ages and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and compassion
- Support the creation of “Making A Mark” entries
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, siblings, and families
- Clean, organize, and put away program supplies
- Participate in patient and family events related to AIM programming
- May assists with special projects/programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school or college student (undergraduate or graduate preferred)
- Interest in pediatric healthcare, patient engagement, or arts-based programming
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working with children
- Basic computer and general administrative skills
