Summary
The Intern/Aide position supports medical research activities within a structured academic environment, providing hands-on experience in epidemiological research methods. The intern will develop foundational skills through engagement in scientific literature review, data analysis, data quality control, and data entry. Working closely with faculty and a designated mentor, the intern will participate in both group and one-on-one meetings to support their professional development and ensure progress toward defined educational objectives.
This role is designed for individuals pursuing or interested in a career in medical research and offers an opportunity to build practical research skills in a collaborative setting.
This research program studies the risk factors and outcomes for childhood cancer and hematological diseases to determine what can be done to prevent these conditions. Through this program, interns will learn to use epidemiological research methods and apply these methods to investigate research questions related to childhood cancer and hematology.Interns will gain knowledge in epidemiological research methods through review of scientific literature, performing QC of study data, analyze research data, and performing data entry.

Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Conduct literature reviews of scientific and medical research publications
- Perform quality control (QC) checks on study data to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Assist with data analysis using epidemiological research methods
- Complete data entry tasks related to ongoing research projects
- Participate in group meetings with program facultys and objectives
- Support research team activities aligned with internship educational objectives
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in medical or epidemiological research
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Current enrollment in a graduate program (preferred but not required)
- Interest or experience in data analysis, quality control, and scientific research methodologies
