Job Title:  Intern/Aide - Pediatric and Maternal Nutrition (Part-time)

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The intern will support a biomedical research team within the Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) by assisting with data and specimen-related activities for human research studies. This role provides hands-on experience in research processes, including data entry, preparation of materials for specimen collection, and understanding regulations related to human subjects’ research. The internship is designed to help the participant learn how research teams operate, how study data are collected and verified, and how to contribute effectively in a scientific research environment.

 

This internship is a part‑time role (10 hours per week) that offers hands‑on training as part of a multidisciplinary research team. It is not benefits‑eligible and cannot exceed one year in duration. Work is performed on‑site during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8–5).

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with experienced research team members on day-to-day study activities.
  • Prepare paper templates, materials, and specimen collection supplies needed for research visits.
  • Assist with entering and double‑checking research data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Learn and follow all rules and regulations related to human subjects’ research and data handling.
  • Help review, verify, and resolve research records to ensure fidelity and compliance.
  • Support tasks related to data and specimen collection workflows as part of an active biomedical research team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in public health, nutrition, biomedical research, or related scientific fields.
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in biology, nutrition, public health, biochemistry, kinesiology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to double‑check and verify research data.
  • Ability to follow research protocols, regulations, and data‑handling procedures related to human subjects.
  • Interest in learning how to contribute effectively within a biomedical research team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to assist in preparing research materials and specimen collection supplies.
