Department/Job Summary

Texas Children's Hospital is the largest children's hospital in the country and families come from all over the country to see our renowned genetic specialists. The genetic counselor filling this position will have the opportunity to participate in various multi-disciplinary and specialty clinics at Texas Children's Hospital, including the Neurofibromatosis clinic, Skeletal dysplasia clinic, Urogenetics clinic, Immunogenetics clinic, Disorders of Sexual Differentiation clinic, and Hearing oss clinic. 

Job Duties

The genetic counselor will be responsible for:


  • Obtaining medical and family history of the patient during the clinic setting
  • Documenting clinic notes and encounters in electronic medical record system
  • Counseling patients and families regarding results
  • Arranging follow-up appointments as indicated


They will also have the opportunity to teach the medical genetics fellows, residents, medical students, and assist in the supervision of genetic counseling students through the genetic counseling training program at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas.
