Job Duties
  • Performs gross dissection of surgical specimens, selecting appropriate tissue to be submitted for histologic review.
  • Take gross photographs and catalogue them in a computer
  • Dictates verbal reports regarding the specimens.
  • Collects and catalogs fresh tissue for the Tumor Bank and special studies.
  • Prepares quality assurance reports.
  • Reviews and revises CPT charge codes and obtain A-charges for international patients.
  • Instructs/advises Pathology residents and students on pathology techniques and procedures.
  • Organizes the work flow in the gross room/frozen room.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

•        Bachelor's degree from a NAACLs approved Pathologists' Assistant program, Master preferred.
•         Six months of directly related experience.
•        Certified as a Pathologists' Assistant by the American Society for Clinical Pathology and credentials are PA (ASCP)cm
