Summary
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Texas Children’s Hospital. This faculty position is dedicated to the care of critically ill children with congenital and acquired heart disease and offers a unique opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) seeking a career in pediatric cardiac critical care.
The primary clinical site is Texas Children's Hospital, one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States and an affiliated hospital of Baylor College of Medicine. The Section of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics is a multidisciplinary team of attending critical care physicians, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), physician trainees, and research support personnel committed to the care of critically ill children.
The Texas Children's Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is a 48-bed, high-volume pediatric cardiac critical care unit comprising a Neonatal CICU, Pediatric CICU, and a first of its kind Pediatric Heart Failure ICU. In addition to more than 1,000 congenital heart operations annually, Texas Children's is home to an active heart failure program, a busy thoracic organ transplantation service, and one of the largest mechanical circulatory support and VAD programs in the world.
The CICU APP team plays an integral role in the multidisciplinary care of these complex patients. APPs work collaboratively with cardiac intensivists, cardiologists, congenital heart surgeons, physician fellows, and other members of the Heart Center team to provide comprehensive critical care across the CICU. The candidate will join an established CICU faculty including more than 30 attending physicians with specialty training in pediatric cardiology, pediatric critical care, anesthesia, neonatology, and internal medicine; physician instructors training in pediatric cardiac critical care; and a dedicated team of advanced practice providers.
