This position offers a unique experience in our high-volume neuroscience intensive care unit at CHI Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSLMC) for an individual who wishes to pursue a career in neurocritical care intensive care.

Job Purpose

The Section of Neurocritical Care and Vascular Neurology in the Department of Neurology is a multidisciplinary team of attending neurocritical care physicians, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners/physician assistants), post-doctoral fellows, and research support personnel committed to the care of patients suffering from acute, and at times, life-threatening illness or injury affecting the nervous system.


The primary clinical site is at BSLMC, a tertiary care, affiliated hospital of Baylor College of Medicine and part of the CHI Texas Division of hospitals.

Job Responsibilties

The Instructor will work alongside Faculty colleagues, neurocritical care physician fellows, advanced practice providers, and  neurology residents in the care of adults  with chronic and acute neurological illness requiring intensive care in the NICU including:

•      Day-to-day care of adults with acute and chronic neurological illness requiring critical care.

•      Active role in education of trainees including neurology residents and neurocritical care fellows.

•      Liaison and collaboration with stakeholders in other intensive care units and BSLMC stroke team and telestroke service

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Required: Master’s degree in in Nursing.

Experience:  None required.


  • Required: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Required: Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
