The Department of Pediatrics, Hematology-Oncology Clinic is seeking a qualified practitioner to provide quality care.

Job Purpose

Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.

Job Responsibilties
  1. Clinical or basic science research opportunities may be available on a case by case basis and may be discussed with Section leadership during the application process. 
    • Perform procedures (bone marrow, lumbar puncture) on patients as indicated. 
    • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including Attending Physicians, Hematology-Oncology fellows, Pediatric Residents, Nurses and Pharmacists to provide optimal care to identified patient population. 
    • Inpatient clinical time may include weekend rounds or night coverage. 
  2. Depending on the team identified duties may include a. Manage outpatient and/or inpatient care for designated patients in a tertiary hospital setting. 
  3. Multiple clinical teams exists for which an Advanced Practice Practitioner may be hired, including but not limited to Hematology (and subspecialty), Oncology (and subspecialty), Vascular Anomalies, and Cell and Gene Therapy. 
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Nurse Practitioner (Pediatric/Family) or Physician Assistant degree. 
  2. For positions that would include inpatient time Nurse Practitioners must have Pediatric Acute Care certification. 
  3. Prior to employment start date must obtain appropriate license in the state of Texas and National Board Certification. 
  4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
