Assistant Director of Evaluation and Assessment Innovation


The Division of Evaluation, Assessment, & Education Research within the BCM School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Director of Evaluation and Assessment Innovation. This specialist will provide collaborative leadership in developing, and contribute to ongoing implementation of, learning assessment and program improvement processes for an evolving medical education curriculum.  Candidates with sufficient credentials and academic accomplishment will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the level of Instructor or Assistant Professor.

Job Duties
  • Work closely with medical school colleagues - including deans, directors, faculty, and staff - in developing and implementing new performance assessment processes appropriate for our evolving curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with teams designing processes and infrastructure for data warehousing and performance outcomes dashboards; serve as a liaison between IT specialists and medical education administrators (deans, directors, staff) to keep data warehousing and performance dashboard project(s) moving forward.
  • Serve as a program evaluation and learning assessment project leader and specialist, coaching faculty, staff, and students on appropriate implementation and use of new assessment tools
  • Collaborate with team members of the Division of Evaluation, Assessment, & Education Research in the ongoing implementation and improvement of program evaluation and learning assessment processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD, PhD, EdD or similar terminal degree, with significant expertise and experience in educational performance assessment.
  • At least 3 years of prior experience with one or more of the following: project management, curriculum design, assessment design and implementation, higher education administration
  • At least 2 years of experience working with IT systems or infrastructure associated with higher education performance assessment and/or program evaluation (examples include but are not limited to ExamSoft, E*Value, MedHub, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing student performance assessments; knowledgeable regarding assessment construction and validation
  • Familiarity with current scholarship on educational assessment, including competency-based curricula and assessment processes
  • Evidence of significant collaborative experience with IT teams
  • Experience with program evaluation and improvement processes, such as administration of course and teaching evaluation surveys
  • Experience in health professions education
