Summary
The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital, seeks a Histology Technician II to support the Tissue Analysis (TA) Core of the Texas Medical Center Digestive Diseases Center. The TA Core provides specialized laboratory resources and expertise for gastrointestinal research. This position involves performing histological preparations and tissue analysis to support both basic and clinical research.
This position is part-time and will work 12 hours a week.
Job Duties
- Histological preparations and procedures
- Process tissue samples, prepare slides for routine H&E and special stains, and perform histological procedures to support research and clinical studies.
- Immunohistochemistry
- Coordinate and assist with immunohistochemistry experiments as needed.
- Laboratory maintenance and equipment management
- Ensure lab cleanliness, sterilize equipment and supplies, and perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Supply and inventory management
- Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
- Support general lab operations and perform additional tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of a Histologic Technician AAS program, accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
- One year of experience in Histology.
- Eligible for certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists-Board of Registry (ASCP-BOR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors of Histotechnology or Science degree.
- Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or (HTL).
- Experience in immunohistochemistry staining.
