Title:  Front Desk Specialist I

Summary

Administrative support to include managing incoming calls, scanning incoming patient records, preparing medical records as requested by patients and/or outside entities, managing incoming faxes. Medical Front Office responsibilities include: Greeting and registering patients, making appointments, verifying insurance, entering client data into electronic health record and homeless management information system. This position reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services.
 

Job Duties

Position requires exceptional communication and customer service skills, experience, and proficiency with patient registration functions and office duties of an ambulatory clinic. Must be punctual, dependable, and flexible with assignments.


•    Managing a phone with multiple lines, transferring calls, taking messages.
•    Faxing documents to outside agencies, receiving faxes and processing incoming faxes.
•    Scheduling patients in electronic health record.
•    Greeting, Registering and checking in patients: collecting and documenting demographic information, insurance information, and social determinant of health information in EHR.
•    Informing patients of visit delays.
•    Answering questions received at front desk.
•    Attending team meetings.
•    Assessing patient eligibility for services.
•    Assisting with medical records requests.
•    Scanning patient documents into EPIC.
•    Acting as a liaison between patient and clinical staff.
•    Providing varied, job-related administrative report as needed.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Epic and electronic health records 
  • Patient Registration and electronic health record data entry skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of local safety net services  
  • Bilingual English and Spanish 
  • College courses in related field
