The Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing a set of departmental accounts, maintain several organizational units cost distributions, and preparing routine and specialized financial reports. The candidate will be responsible for providing budget data for the yearly operating budget period. Other responsibilities will include reviewing SAP workflow, approving financial transactions, and monitoring account balances. 

Job Duties

  • Creates custom industry sponsored budgets based on protocol, uses negotiation tactics to ensure all costs are covered and in compliance. 15%
  • Develops a method to track industry funded payments, assists with capturing charges and invoice sponsors. 10%   
  • Analyzes and interprets financial reporting for industry funded studies to PI. 10%
  • Post-award financial management: takes measures to evaluate charges for compliance, forecasts accounts, and advises PI on budget management. 15%
  • Engages in department annual budgeting. 2%
  • Submits budget revisions, processes journal entries, completes Payroll Cost Transfers, updates effort using PePT. 12%
  • Reviews and monitors expenditures following Purchasing policies and procedures; guides support staff with maintaining policies and procedures (budgeting, cost distributions, SRM, Concur, SAP documents). 12%
  • Collaborates with all levels of personnel (internal and external department, as well as outside companies) to identify, analyze, resolve issues or errors regarding accounting. 10%
  • Evaluates and reports corrections on financial reports (FSR accuracy, expenditure compliance). 5%
  • Interprets financial reports to staff and Principle Investigators; Advises recommendations based on analysis of accounts. 8%
  • Assists with other responsibilities that align with Financial Analyst role. 1%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP/SRM/Concur.
  • Industry-Funded Clinical Trials budgeting experience.
  • Grants Management experience.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
