Job Purpose

The Financial Analyst in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences will be responsible for performing financial analysis, forecasting budgets, and preparing routine and specialized financial reports. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for gathering and organizing data for the yearly operating budget. Other responsibilities will include processing financial transactions, and monitoring accounts.


The Financial Analyst will provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual data analysis to the Lead, Financial Analyst and Department Administrator for discussions on areas of opportunities. This position will be working under pressure for multiple deadlines alongside the Administrative team. The primary systems that will be utilized on a day to day basis in this position are SAP, Concur, and Microsoft Excel.


Position located at the McNair Campus in the Texas Medical Center.

Job Duties

  • Performs financial analysis and forecasts budgets for Leadership, Faculty, and Staff within the department.
  • Provides assistance to the Lead, Financial Analyst and Department Administrator in managing the department budget to ensure budget compliance throughout the year; requests budget revisions as needed.
  • Prepares routine and specialized financial analysis for potential opportunities and compliance.
  • Assists the Lead, Financial Analyst with yearly operating budget; gathers and organizes data.
  • Performs and monitors account reconciliation.
  • Processes journal entries, deposits, check requests, purchase orders, and concur expense reports.
  • Provides financial, and operational support to administrative team; coordinates with administrative team on department positions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance of a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate would have strong analytical skills, and is proficient in Microsoft Excel. Concur and SAP experience is also desired for this position.
  • Master's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting. 
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
