Summary
The Department of Medicine and IQuESt: The Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety, is seeking a financial analyst to join our team at Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. As the largest center for Health Services Research in the Southwest, our mission is to improve health and well-being through innovations in health care delivery. Job Duties
- Analyzes and monitors budgets for compliance throughout the year; requests budget revisions.
- Monitors expenses and financial accounts.
- Performs account reconciliation and makes journal entries.
- Performs financial analysis and forecasts budgets; prepares routine and specialized financial reports.
- Interacts with all levels of personnel within the departments/division and other financial departments within the institution to resolve issues related to accounting transactions or reconciliation items.
- Assists with clearing out deficits, review and confirmation of payments and expenses, residual transfers, and closeout.
- Provides data to analyze department's cost of research and present to the department leadership.
- Meets with the principal investigator as needed to review research finance status.
- Oversees spending trends on post-award grant accounts to ensure that budgets are being adhered to and expenses are allowable.
- Meets with faculty as needed to proactively plan for spending and proper financial management of grant accounts including ensuring proper credits and debits have been applied to each account.
- Prepares and reviews routine finance reports, or monthly or as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Research administration finance experience.
- Power BI, SAP S/4 HANA, Excel. Computer/spreadsheet savvy.
- Great organizational and communication skills needed.
