Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Executive Director of Academic Information Technology provides leadership to the diverse teams and technologies which enable the Education Mission to fulfill its aims. In partnership with Mission Leadership, this leader establishes strategic and tactical plans to leverage innovative solutions to meet mission needs.  The Executive Director ensures operational soundness and reliability.  This senior leader works closely with executives, faculty, staff, and learners to plan, deliver and operate new and enhanced capabilities ensuring the educational experience expected by BCM learners and faculty. 

Job Duties

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the academic IT team. 
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, budget, and management of academic technology initiatives. 
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting professional development and growth.   
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the college's academic goals and objectives.  
  • Identify emerging technology trends and assess their potential impact on academic programs and services.  
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate IT planning with overall institutional planning Ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services that support teaching, learning, and research activities.  
  • Oversee the management of academic IT infrastructure, including learning management systems, classroom technology, and research computing resources.  
  • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect academic data and systems.  
  • Oversee a team responsible for managing audio-visual technology for classrooms and instructional spaces.  
  • Ensure the availability and functionality of audio-visual equipment, including projectors, sound systems, video conferencing tools, and interactive displays.  
  • Collaborate with faculty to understand their audio-visual needs and provide training and support for effective use of technology in teaching. 
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the maintenance and upgrade of audio-visual equipment via a life cycle refresh program.   

Training and Instruction:  

  • Lead the creation and delivery of training content to ensure faculty, staff, and students are proficient in using all technology tools across the college.  
  • Develop and implement training programs and workshops on the effective use of learning management systems, classroom technology, clinical technology, and other IT resources.  
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinical staff to create instructional materials that enhance the teaching and learning experience.  
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make continuous improvements based on feedback and emerging needs.  
  • Oversee a team that encompasses training for Epic, SAP, Blackbaud, Blackboard, etc.

Data Analytics and Reporting:  

  • Develop and implement data analytics strategies to support academic decision-making and improve educational outcomes.  
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of academic data, including student performance, course evaluations, and research metrics.  
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators to identify key performance indicators and create dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights.  
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.  

Stakeholder Engagement:  

  • Build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and students to understand their technology needs and priorities.  
  • Serve as a liaison between the academic community and IT staff, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.  
  • Represent the academic IT team in institutional committees and working groups.  
  • Emphasize collaboration with faculty to ensure that technology solutions are aligned with educational goals and enhance the teaching and learning experience. Actively seek faculty input and feedback to continuously improve IT services and support.  

Budget and Resource Management:  

  • Develop and manage the academic IT budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.  
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support technology initiatives.  
  • Oversee procurement and vendor management for academic IT services and products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fifteen years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and eleven years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience will also be considered.
