Exchange Visitor will work with stereomicroscopes to sort Drosophila of different genotypes according to genetic markers, and will set up hundreds of mating schemes. For each mating, Exchange Visitor will sort and collect progeny of the appropriate genotypes to assess neuronal dysfunction using well-established behavioral readouts in Drosophila and the robotic instrumentation at the High-Throughput Screening Facility of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute. The goal of these research activities is to investigate the effect of SARS-CoV-2 non-structural proteins of neuronal function and therefore to provide insight into the pathophysiology of long COVID.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required: Exchange Visitor Visa.
  • Alien with a residence in a foreign country whose intent is to return to their home country.
  • Selected by exchange visitor program sponsor to participate in the exchange visitor program.
  • Intent is to pursue appropriate activity.
  • Must have sufficient funding and appropriate background for program activity.
  • Must meet minimum objective measurement requirements set by Baylor College of Medicine establishing English proficiency.
