The Clinical Applications Associate provides daily operational analysis, support and maintenance for the Epic Access  Applications used by the Baylor College of Medicine clinical departments.  This analyst participates in scheduling, registration and project management activities for clinical systems related to the clinical practice.


Internal title:  Clinical Applications Associate; working title:  Epic Application Analyst - Cadence and Prelude

The candidate must be willing to multitask, eager to learn and have the ability exceed customer service. They must be competent to speak directly with stakeholders and articulate solutions to help increase the capture of clinical charges.

Job Duties

  • Supports and maintains Epic's suite of Access applications (Cadence, Prelude, Referrals, RTE).
  • Collaborates with end users to design, build, and test scheduling, registration, authorization, and referral workflows.
  • Participates in weekly operational change control meetings with Patient Business Services staff regarding build requests for Epic Access related workflows. 
  • Provides end-user coaching and contributes with development of training documentation in regards to the registration and scheduling workflows within Epic.
  • Provides support of incidents reported through the Help Desk.
  • Responsible for detailed documentation of build fixes within IT change management system.
  • Provides in-person, telephone, and virtual support to users for Epic Upgrades and other clinical project go-lives.
  • Collaborates with Clinical IT teams for optimization, maintenance and projects activities. 
  • Assigned for call support and available when needed for after hours/weekend support.
  • Performs testing and validation for maintenance patch weekends.
  • Assists with migration of records through data courier in Epic.
  • Completes Peer Reviews for build completed by teammates.
  • Monitors incoming/outgoing charges and rule based management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years working in scheduling and registration utilizing Epic as the EHR
Epic Cadence or Prelude build/setup and understanding of scheduling and registration workflows
Epic certification in one of the below applications is preferred: 
• Cadence
• Prelude
• Eligibility
• Referrals and Authorizations
