Title: Director of Digital Workspace Services
Summary
As the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Director of Digital Workspace Services (Director), this newly created position will be responsible for delivering a transformational digital workspace experience to faculty, staff, and learners at Baylor College of Medicine. The Director will lead a team in the delivery of the technical services associated with communications, collaboration, mobility, productivity workspace applications and workspace innovations enabling a modern and engaging digital workspace for the employees and learners of the College. In addition to developing strategy and delivery of technical services associated with the digital workspace, the Director is responsible for engaging the business units of the College in the pursuit of driving business outcomes via adoption and consumption of the digital workspace strategy. This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
The ideal candidate will have applied knowledge of digital transformation technologies and their application in enabling end-user adoption, improved workforce productivity, and enhancing business outcomes.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area.
Job Duties
- Accountable for all aspects of Digital Workspace Services.
- Responsible for leading the OIT organization's digital workspace strategy, projects, and processes for digital workspace solutions, further aligning the organization on communication and collaboration tools.
- In developing the digital workspace program, leads the planning, communication, assessments, and implementation of key digital projects supporting digital workspace transformation within the organization.
- Responsible for developing and implanting procedures/processes ensuring team can execute according to guidelines provided; including the development of templates, user stories and use case scenarios to aid in the adoption of digital technology by the college.
- In support of these activities, the Director exercises management authority for the Digital Workspace Services team.
- Responsible for the budget, ensuring correct forecast and target goals, and all aspects of contractual revisions, renegotiation, RFPs, for related 3rd party services.
- Responsible for leading the digital workspace teams, including working with the Executive Director of Enterprise Technology in organizational design, reporting structure, people development, resource planning, ensuring optimal execution of digital workspace strategies, service improvements and the delivery of business solutions.
- Liaises with other OIT teams, OIT mission leaders, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of the services to the needs of the College's business. Relationship management, promoting and leading change represents a significant part of the function.
- Establishes and manages the relationship with vendors and external suppliers, working with BCM's Supply Chain team, to ensure appropriate delivery of services related to the digital workspace.
- Ensures the implementation and control of Service Level Objectives (SLO's) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) providing senior IT management and stakeholders with adequate transparency in metrics and reporting.
- Identifies and develops efficiency opportunities, being able to effectively communicate the role and value of the digital workspace within the College and to present effectively strategic directions, roadmaps, and business cases for technology investments.
- Position will oversee supervisory and other IT roles within the Digital Workspace Services team.
- Leveraging the OIT Management Competency framework, builds the appropriate team structures to be able to effectively manage the respective Digital Workspace Services organization, identify and develop future talents and create realistic succession scenarios for key positions.
- Ensures appropriate leadership skills are present at every level by fostering a motivational and supportive work environment in which team members are coached, trained, and provided with career opportunities through development.
- Working with Digital Workspace Services team leaders, monitors and evaluates team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT systems, data, analysis, and team feedback making appropriate changes to meet business needs.
- Provides Digital Workspace Services team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and OIT objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree and seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience will also be considered
- Experience in developing digital workspace strategy, transformation framework, and actionable road-maps
- Experience with the modern digital workspace and design thinking (including mobile and applications)
- Experience in driving Digital Workspace transformation adoption in an enterprise
- End-to-end understanding of capabilities in the digital workspace area
- Strong knowledge of the Digital Workspace product landscape and underlying IT solutions (Microsoft 365, file sharing and collaboration solution [e.g., Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Power platform, etc.], telephony, audio/video conferencing, and mobility)
- Basic expertise in product management and implementation of agile/scrum methodologies
- Strong experience in interacting with business partners and customers/consumers of IT services
- Strong skill in leading teams
- Experience in an Academic Healthcare setting a plus
