Title: Director, Business Operations
Summary
The Department of Medicine is recruiting an enthusiastic and reliable Director of Business Operations to lead the strategic direction of the sections of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to ensure the current and long-term business goals are met. This role will manage multiple managers and professionals. The Director will provide mentorship to the team across all missions and functional areas including research, education, clinical, and business operations. The Director will function as the dyad partner with the section chief to develop long-term strategic plans. This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
This position may be eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area after a 6-month training period.
Job Duties
- Direct the daily operation of multiple sections including, but not limited to, areas of human resources, compliance, and financial management.
- Manage multiple teams led by managers and professionals, including defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
- Oversee financial management and accountability of multiple functions, including budget administration, performing cost assessments, monitoring financial transactions, and financial reporting. Make strategic decisions based on the financial data.
- Develop staffing plans and productivity guidelines according to budget availability and department/unit needs.
- Develop and implement successful strategies for revenue growth and expense control.
- Negotiate and implement the human resources activities for the section, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
- Create strategic partnerships to develop synergy between technology and business practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree and seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience will also be considered.
- Certified Research Administrator
- History of progressively increasing responsibilities, particularly in managing large financial portfolios and personnel management.
Other Information
- Candidates will be required to complete an Excel proficiency test.
- Candidates will have a working interview to demonstrate knowledge of financial and research administration.
