The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine delivers cutting-edge research focused on cancer biology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, and neurobiology. Job Purpose

Provide support to the department by processing purchasing orders, managing travel, maintaining calendars, and composing correspondence.

Job Duties

  • Provides support to the department by processing human resources and compensation related transactions including, increases, new hires, and terminations. In addition, the role will be responsible for departmental accounts payable functions, which include purchase orders, managing travel, reconciling invoices, and clearing encumbrances.
  • Coordinates Human Resources related activities, including hiring, terminations, and salary changes.
  • Processes all visa applications and renewals for Faculty, staff, and Postdocs.
  • Helps the Finance Team with effort certification and communication with Faculty and staff.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day business and financial processes for the department.
  • Reviews expenditures and related fund sources to verify accuracy, need, and compliance.
  • Prepares and processes invoices, check request and requisitions.
  • Reviews and approves orders for laboratory expenses, equipment, and services.
  • Manages domestic and international travel in the travel management system (Concur).
  • Oversees the p-card and T-card reconciliation for the department.
  • Provides additional support to faculty members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Finance and Human Resource experience a plus.
