The USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center is a world-class research center committed to conducting research on the nutritional needs of children and mothers. This administrative coordinator will provide administrative support for several research faculty in the CNRC, performing entry level exempt, administrative work requiring the exercise of discretion and judgment. The successful applicant will be a team player, committed to problem solving, and to keeping open lines of communication with supervisors about project/task status and completion. Job Duties
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates administrative duties.
  • May assist in personnel management functions such as recruitment, interviewing, and hiring for the organizational unit.
  • Participates in programmatic budget planning and development; coordinates procurement of equipment and supplies.
  • Conducts special projects and prepares administrative reports.
  • Interprets rules, regulations, and policies and implements as applicable.
  • May assist manager or head of the organizational unit in establishing and attaining goals and objectives.
  • Researches and resolves problems and issues in SAP.
  • Maintains data and forms; oversees the filing of correspondence and other records.
  • Reads and routes incoming mail.
  • Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate staff.
  • Works with the assigned group of faculty to prioritize tasks and plan timetables.
  • Actively keeps track of faculty expenses and accounts across time.
  • Coordinates itineraries and agenda details for visitors and special events.
  • Assists in scheduling appointments and reserving meeting space.
Minimum Qualifications


  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
