Job Purpose

Computer System Administrator needed for large scale neuroscience/machine learning researching lab

We are seeking a capable and experienced system computer system administrator to join the large-scale neuroscience and machine learning research lab. The system administrator will build and manage the computational infrastructure to enable and support the projects involving massively large-scale neuroscience data processing and analysis as well as advanced machine learning algorithm optimizations. The applicant will join a team of leading researchers and engineers in the field of neuroscience and machine learning to develop, configure and maintain, among other things, highly optimized and robust data storage and transfer infrastructure, database servers and state management system for automated data processing and large GPU clusters for high-availability computations specialized for massive neural network trainings. 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.

Additional Skills

The ideal applicant will exhibit the following characteristics and expertise:
• Fluency and familiarity in working with a network of a machine consisting of a mixture of OS including but not limited to Linux (e.g. Ubuntu) [Main focus], Mac OS X, and Windows (Desktop and Server)
• Has strong background in administering server software on both Linux and Windows environment including database (e.g. MySQL), and file storage (e.g. SAMBA)
• Have at least moderate experience in software development and in building automation tools, with preferable experience in shell scripting, C++, and Python
• Is resourceful and possesses up-to-date knowledge about various software tools and approaches
• Is proficient in communicating with researchers and engineers with widely varying level of technical expertise
• Must have experience with GitHub and Docker
• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with Sphinx Docs tools is a plus
• Basic familiarity in working with cloud-based infrastructures such as Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Google Engine
