Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced Compensation professional to administer BCM Compensation programs and work on an ongoing organizational job study initiative.  This position is responsible for providing job classification expertise and administrative support to the Defining Pathways project team.  This position will also provide support to the Compensation Team administering compensation programs in accordance with BCM policies, practices, and federal law.

Job Duties

Primary job duties include working with the project team and stakeholders to facilitate job classifications review and reclassification of job roles.

The applicant will:

  • Assists with a College-wide job classification review and job reclassification of existing staff.
  • Conducts job analysis to determine job classifications based on BCM job architecture.
  • Assigns pay grades and determines FLSA classification for newly created jobs.
  • Drafts job descriptions for newly created jobs and maintains the job description database.
  • Participates in annual salary surveys and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Participates in annual benchmarking to ensure market competitiveness.

Other job duties may include working with Compensation team members to administer BCM Compensation programs and assist with day-to-day tasks such as:

  • Advises Departments on compensation programs and interprets applicable federal/state employment laws and BCM compensation policies and practices.
  • Reviews and provides salary guidance in accordance with Baylor College of Medicine policies and practices.
  • Reviews and approve compensation related transactions in SuccessFactors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working in a classification and compensation role.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability and flexibility to work independently or as a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments.
  • Health Care or Higher Education experience.
  • Job Architecture Design.
  • Working with complex salary survey submissions.
  • Working with market pricing tools.


Work is performed with considerable independence and latitude, but is subject to review and approval of Compensation Leaders.
